The mythology of Egypt always piques my interest, and Ms. Wylde brought the gods, goddesses and pharaohs to vivid life in a mix of ancient and modern-day characters.
While the storyline was a bit rough at times, I love how Ms. Wylde interwove the tale of the curse with the destinies of the couple in current times, and resolved the issues for both, proving true love endures through time to triumph.

Hieroglyphs edition by Kit Wylde Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Passion is all consuming, and Joslyn Wetherly’s attempts at deciphering an ancient Egyptian scroll has become an obsession…even to the detriment of her marriage. Tragedy strikes. Being in a near comatose state opens Joslyn’s perceptions. She discovers her past-life connection to the scroll, which enables her to correctly tell Hatchepsut’s story. Joslyn’s present-day journey takes her to Egypt where she works with her boss, Sam, and another Egyptologist named Ali. Distrust, danger and royal mysteries plague Joslyn as she fulfills an ancient obligation to satisfy the gods and set her soul free.

I love anything Egyptian, so I jumped at the chance to read Hieroglyphs. The storyline is engaging and the plot moves at a good pace. For me, only two issues kept this from being a five-star book. The transition from present-day to Hatchepsut’s time in Egypt, as well as her explanation to Sam, could have been smoother and clearer. All in all, I enjoyed Ms. Wylde’s novella Hieroglyphs and look forward to reading more of her work.

What a fun read! Fast paced and full of Egyptian history and lore. I love mummy/ancient Egypt type stuff anyway, so this was up my alley. I read this at night and it had a great spooky feel without being too creepy. I was glad for this since I was alone at the time. There was also a great building sense of dread leading up to the final climax. My biggest complaint would be that I would have liked it to be longer. It felt like we were just getting started and I wanted to know more about the life of this Pharaoh and the curse. Great job!
On the whole I enjoyed Hieroglyphs. It was very obvious to me that Ms. Wylde had done her homework. If Ancient Egyptian history is your thing, then this book is definitely for you. The descriptions of the Egyptian culture were very rich and they transported the reader into the setting with ease. This book had a bit of an identity crisis for me. It was almost as if it couldn't make up it's mind if it were going to be a romance or a fantasy. The marriage turmoil plotline seemed a little forced. I would have preferred less of that and more of the mystery surrounding the scroll. The pacing was a bit off in places. The heroine's recovery in the beginning didn't seem quite realistic. However, I did enjoy this book as a whole.
Hieroglyphs is an exciting, fast paced read about an expert archeologist and Egyptologist who finds herself consumed by an ancient Egyptian scroll and possessed with powers from a pair of ancient Gods set out to destroy each other. Her obsession consumes her and almost destroys her relationship to her husband, Peter. Very well written and entertaining, the only quality lacking was length. I felt the author could have done much more with this story. At times it felt a bit rushed and better detail and deeper story line would have put her obvious writing talents on display. However, wanting more of a story is hardly ever a negative thing, as I’m sure we all have read a few we wish would have ended quicker than they did. If you are into Egyptian Gods and archeology, read it. If you enjoy a thrilling, quick, exciting story with a bit of romance, read it.
Occult, fantasy, time travel, supernatural - all the above. Ancient Egypt, modern Egypt, contemporary America - all the above. There is a lot going on in Hieroglyphys, but it all makes sense if you have sufficient imagination.

Joslyn and Peter Weatherly have a happy and loving marriage, but Joslyn's focus on her profession (Egyptologist) tends to put pressure on their relationship. She strives to preserve her marriage but is driven by unusual (to say the least) forces to continue her work.

Besides marriage conflict, there is workplace friction, and professional rivalry.

A lot is included in this relatively small package.
Kit Wylde's HIEROGLYPHS summons ancient Egypt through the reincarnation of revenge, justice, and everlasting love. Joslyn and Peter's relationship is touching and written so realistically I believed every moment of their pain and adoration for each other. Wylde blended the ancient Egyptian scenes seamlessly with the modern ones. The writing contained beautiful details and edge-of-your-seat suspense. As a reader, I found it hard to put the story down or out of my mind. As a former student of the Ancient Near East, I was most impressed by Wylde's descriptions of ancient Egypt and Egyptian archaeology. If you are a fan of The Mummy movies or ancient Egypt, you will especially love HIEROGLYPHS.
The mythology of Egypt always piques my interest, and Ms. Wylde brought the gods, goddesses and pharaohs to vivid life in a mix of ancient and modern-day characters.
